Due to enmity with Vashishta, Vishwamitra sent the Satyavrat to heaven bodily through his hard penance. Seeing this Indradev got angry and sent him back to the earth with his head turned upside down. Vishwamitra, however with his penance stopped the king between heaven and earth. In such a situation, Satyavrat got stuck in the middle and was called TRISHANKU.
